Amazon Frontier is a half-block 397,000sf development in Seattle’s Denny Triangle and the newest addition to Amazon’s Rufus 2.0 campus.  Setting a new precedent for the company’s evolving workplace, the building’s design goal was to minimize the use of elevators and to create a unique and ‘healthier’ way for people to “bump” into each other.  In response to this goal, a vertical open stair, activates the façade as it runs from the ground to the roof. Seen behind the building’s main façade which promotes its internal function, the stair is fully transparent for the neighborhood to see. The result is an open workplace that embraces the design inspiration of the Urban Treehouse.

Pixlwrks was commissioned to illustrate the unique design ideas in a series of images that highlight it’s relationship to the surrounding buildings.
